Jaipur - part 1
We arrived in Jaipur at lunchtime on Tuesday after a 3 hr taxi transfer from Ranthambore. Jaipur is a much bigger city than we’d imagined and our 6-room boutique hotel is about 15 minutes by Uber from the old city. Its owner is related to the local royalty and, as president of the tourist guide association for Rajasthan, he has shown our King around the city not once but twice, first with Diana and more recently with Camilla!
After checking in, we headed out to see the City Palace. Fascinating buildings to explore, and interesting displays of miniature painting and textiles.
Back to our hotel to change for dinner, then out again to Bar Palladio, recommended by our hotel. It was set in the gardens of an old palace and we were able to have drinks and dinner outside, under lovely lights and with roaring braziers alongside, though it wasn’t cold. As the name suggests, Italian food as a change.
Then back to our hotel, which is beautifully lit at night.
